When it comes to martial arts advertising ideas and martial arts marketing, there’s a few things you should definitely do. Firstly get yourself a Google Places page. It’s free and only takes a few minutes to set up. If you don’t already have one you’re definitely leaving money on the table. And guess what? Your competitors probably already use this free tool. But what other martial arts advertising ideas can help build your school?
Martial Arts Advertising Ideas
So we’ve mentioned Google Places for business. Any small business with a local premesis can use Google Places. You don’t have to own a martial arts school. Simply do a Google search for “Google Places” and their online platform will lead you through the process of getting a free listing. You can also do the same for Bing advertising and Yahoo also have a “Places” feature. So there’s 3 places you can advertise for free. Although I think Yahoo is starting to charge now if they havent’ already.
What other martial arts advertising ideas are there? Firstly I would suggest using a paid platform which can target your ideal students by location. Facebook advertising and Google Adwords can both do this. Target a 10 mile radius around the location of your school. Depending on your area you could expand on this too. But the nearer you advertise, the more chance you have of gaining a student. The further away they are the less likely they are to travel to your school.
You can also target by age on Facebook which is a useful feature. Before doing this kind of advertising it’s worth focusing in on your target audience.
Why Is Target Audience Important?
If you run a school somewhere you can get more ‘bang for your buck’ if you target the right people. Less spend and more custom. For example, if your class only caters for 16-25 year olds, what’s the point in advertising to over 30’s? You would be wasting your money. Just like if I was advertising a retirement home to the under 50’s – it’s a waste of money. By focusing in on your target audience you can make super targeted adverts which always deliver you new custom. The more you know about your target audience the easier it is to bring them in with this kind of advertising. Age range, sex, interests, location, groups etc. are all features which you can specifc on Facebook.
Example: If you’re running a women’s only self defence class there’s no point including men in your adverts. You will only be wasting money. Likewise with Google’s Adwords program you should target very specific searches to get more for your money. Adwords doesn’t let you specify so exactly what demographics people belong to. However, it does let you decide which searches throw up your adverts. Make sure they are very specific searches. Emiminate the ‘tyre kickers’ by using negative keywords and “phrase match” rather than broad match in your keywords. More on this in my ebook martial arts marketing 101.
